scrappin card scraps

Well, between everyone being sick, I've been busy working on class materials. I had a class on Friday with some fun ladies that I just met and I have a workshop scheduled for Monday with my sister and some of her friends. So basically I've been doing a lot of cutting and getting ready with a little bit of creating in between. Of course I had to sneak in a nap too, so my antibiotics could work some. :) That doesn't happen very often at my house, so that was good surprise to get.

I'm also getting ready for my Sale-a-bration of Hope class (prayer journal and scripture cards, etc) and I've been putting together page ideas for the bible study class. So I've been fairly busy. In the process I had some scraps left over after making one of my scrapbook page ideas. So I thought I'd see if I could make a card. Can you tell I hate to waste stuff? So far, I've made two with leftover scraps and this is one of them. I used a piece of the dsp from the scrap kit and a few of the stickers. I added a small strip of olive paper and olive ribbon and stamped Thanks a gazillion from the Really Retro stamp set in olive. It was pretty quick and easy. Especially since the dsp is already striped like that. I just trimmed it to fit and added the other elements. Pretty nifty. So do you have scraps you can use? Most crafters have some. I'd love to see what you come up with. Feel free to share.

envelope pocket card 2

Gosh, I can't believe it's been so long since I posted. It's been a really busy week. I guess I didn't realize how busy. You tie that into I'm on antibiotics and my son has the flu, then it gets kind of hectic. No excuse really, but it does slow us down a lot. Anyways, I'm working on ideas for my next club and classes, but here is an item we made at our last club. It's the blue version of the card I showed you previously. I thought it was very soft and pretty.

It's made with the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set and the Full of Thanks stamp set (on dormant list). It is stamped and watercolored with Night of Navy and Lavendar Lace. It's also edged with Bashful blue (insert flower is also in bashful). We used the crimper and Night of Navy ribbon. Fairly quick and easy. What do you think? I like it, but blue is one of my favorite colors so my son and I are prejudiced. :)
I hope you all have a great day and take time to stop and enjoy the flowers and all the beautiful things around you. I hear some Daffodils are starting to sprout. Yeah! That means spring is not far behind. Woohoo!

Monday, February 23, 2009

Sorry, I haven't been posting much. I've had an upper respiratory infection. I just got some antibiotics today. I haven't had my usual energy to stay up late and create a lot. Hopefully, this will kick in soon and I can get back to creating.

One of the many perks of becoming a SU Demonstrator is that they share ideas with you.
In my monthly magazine they shared this card example using the Sweet Stems stamp set. It also uses the Raspberry tart paper and a stamp from the Thank you Kindly set.
I came really close to doing this one with my club. I actually gave them the option of using it. But I made the same card using the Botanical blooms stamp set from the Sale-a-bration brochure. I thought it looked a little brighter, so I used that one during club (the one down below). I thought it fit in really well during these Sale-a-bration months.

By the way, if you have ever thought about being a demo, now is a great time to sign up. Not only do they have 15% off the starter kit, but you also earn another free stamp set from the catalog. So it's like getting two bonuses. You get ideas and training, you get to be the first to see and get all the cool stuff coming out. It has quite a few perks. If you are ever interested let me know. I'd be glad to share with you more about it.

Here is what else I used to make this card.
Paper - Pink pirouette, whisper white, and kiwi kiss and Raspberry tart DSP.
Inks - white craft, rose red
Accessories - rose red grosgrain ribbon.

I hope you enjoy the cards and have a great day.

club card - accordian fold flower

This is a card that my club members did this past week. It's an accordian fold flower card. It was an idea I saw from the Sale-a-bration brochure and changed it slightly. I used pink DSP from our Candy Lane paper. I then cut and scored it and folded it into a flower. I punched a1/2" circle from the same dsp to put in the center. I curled a piece of close to cocoa paper and adhered that to my card. The background is bashful blue and the grass celery as well as the ribbon. I mounted the whole thing on a kraft background. It was a fun little project. I thought this was a fun springy looking card to make. Especially since we've been having such weird weather here. Cold icy one day and semi warm the next. It just seemed like a fun pick me up type of card. So I hope you enjoy this and have a great day and stay warm.

envelope pocket card 1

Sorry, I haven't posted in a few days. I've been really tired. Our family has been fighting the Ohio valley stuff, so we are all coughing and feeling all stuffed up. So it' s been interesting just keeping up with normal stuff this past week. Not to mention having something every night including unloading hundreds of girl scout cookies one night. I love them, but that many boxes takes time when you are stuffy and coughing. :0) So if you are wondering why I haven't posted that's a bit of it anyways.

Anyways, I showed this sample at my club, but I thought I'd show the rest of you too.
It is made from an envelope. I used the Manhattan flowers stamp set and water colored it. I cut out some leaves out of the celery ribbon from Sale-a-bration and made them pointy on one end. I used the Sale-a-bration stamp set to stamp the background in certainly celery. I stamped the flower in Rose red and inked everything in rose red. I used rose red ribbon and the crimper. I cut out the flower and attached on top with glue dots.
I used the same items for the inside pullout card, except I used Chocolate chip for the words. This was a fun project. You ought to try it too.

Stamp Club was tonight

Stamp club was tonight, and although I couldn't talk right it was still fun. I'm still saying it was the otc drugs used to get rid of the Ohio Valley crud. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :0)
But seriously, I enjoy getting together with my club members. They are a lot of fun. Maybe more so tonight. My guess it was because I fed them chocolate. Just kidding, but it was fun and they are a fun group of ladies. Anyways, the picture on the left is what I gave them as a little extra gift this month. It used the Top Note Big Shot die and the free stamp set that you can earn during Sale-a-Bration called Yummy. I stamped it in white and embossed it with white embossing powder. It made for a "yummy" treat filled with butterfingers and caramel kisses. If you would like to know more about how to earn Sale-a-bration stamp sets for free, let me know. I'd be glad to share more about that with you. Have a great day.

Sale-a-bration of Hope class

*** Edited: The date for this is going to change. I will post soon when it will be. Sorry, they rescheduled the basketball games that were canceled during the ice storms which affects a large majority of the class participants. I'm going to try and find out the best date to fit the most people and then re-post it. Thanks and sorry about the change.

This is a class I will be offering on the evening of March 5th. We will be transforming a notebook into a prayer journal, beading a pen (decorating a pen with DSP and covering it with beads), creating a ribbon bookmark with a butterfly covered in beads, and decorating a small box that will hold some uplifting scripture cards, which will also be included (NIV version). This uses many supplies that are showcased in our Sale-a-Bration promotion going on (Spend $50 in product and get a choice of one of six items in our Sale-a-Bration brochure).

The cost of the class is $15 and the class can hold 10 and is already filling up. Let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in this one. Note: The $15 does not count toward Sale-a-bration purchases as it is used to offset supplies that will be already purchased.

I thought this one would be a good one to offer right now for a couple of reasons. One I've been hearing some negative comments from people about the economy and also having the winter blahs. I thought this would be a good pick me up class as it takes the focus off of us and onto God. It can also help aide us as we pray for our friends and family and world at large by helping us to focus our prayers and also by recording how God does answer our prayers. Because God is definitely good.

Secondly I thought it would be good, because I thought it would be a good precursor class to the new trial scrapbooking our faith bible study that will happen soon. It would give us another resource to use to help us record our blessings that we have as we work on the scrapbooks. You might could use some of the items you record in your prayer journal in your actual scrapbooks or the class might help you focus some prayer ideas for your prayer journal too. So that's the jest of why I wanted to offer this class.
Even if you don't participate in the bible study, this idea can be used on it's own or would also make a great gift idea. This is also not mandatory to participate in the bible study. They are two separate class ideas.
So I hope you all are having a great day. If I forgot something or you have questions, let me know. Thanks.

sizzix box #2 part 2

Here is the other box I told you about yesterday. This is with the Parisian Breeze paper that's new. It's a very thick paper like card stock material, so it's really good for a box. This die is so super easy. I basically just punched it out of the paper, assembled it in just a few seconds, tied a ribbon around it in a knot and added a brad. So cute and so easy at the same time. I'm really liking this die.
My sister wanted a box to hold her extra business cards in on her desk and this is what we came up with. Pretty cute don't you think?
Well I hope you have an awesome Valentine's day tomorrow. Remember to tell someone close to you that you love them. You'll make them smile. :)

sizzix Box #2 part 1

Valentine's Day is Saturday. Are you prepared? Do you wait last minute like me. :) I'm so terrible about stuff like that. Some days it's hard to keep up. But I just take one day at a time and that's what I can do for now. Hopefully you guys are better prepared. Just when it seems like things slow down though, things seem to pick up again and it's all busy again. But it's all fun for the most part. At least today. ;)

Last night I made these cut little boxes for our kids' teachers for Valentine's day (My son's party was today, so I did them all at once). I can't tell you how super easy they were. I just love this new box die. All it takes to make the actual box (besides paper) is about 1 1/2" of sticky strip if that much. You just apply that little piece to that one flap and then it just all goes together. Super easy!

It really is so simple. Now I did add extras to this box. I added a handle, which is about a 3/4" strip on this one, but I think I like the 1/2" better, but forgot to take a picture of that one.

I also used my wide oval punch and punched a hole in it and added a piece of transparency behind it, so the candy would show through, but not fall out. If you look closely at the picture I did stamp my box and handle using the Love you Much hearts stamp with Pink Pirouette ink on Pink Pirouette paper. I used real red and white for the hearts punched with my heart to heart punch and my big heart punch. I made a big heart tag and added it to the side. I also used the red and white striped ribbon and the white gel pen and real red marker (for the stitches). I finished 4 or these in no time. They were fun to make. Which is what I'm needing right now - quick, easy and fun.
I'm working on another one with some of our new thicker Designer paper. When I get done with that one I'll post a picture of it too. It will be really cool. I can't wait for you all to see it.
I hope you all are having a great day and don't let the stress of life get to you too much. Remember to stop and smell the chocolate...errrr....I mean flowers. :)

Valentine pop up card

This is a card I made that will pop out as you open it (or stick up off the page). I thought this looked fun. I figured everyone could use a little fun now and then, especially in today's economy.

I used the Love you much bundle again. I used real red ink, paper and ribbon. I used pink piroutte paper and ink (there are hearts stamped on the bottom white piece). It's faint in the picture but there. Punched out the hearts with the new Heart to heart punch and used the trio flower for the flower. The L & V are watercolored with red and the others with pink. I used a silver brad for the middle of the flower.

I used the 1 3/4" circle punch and scallop circle punch for the inside as well as the hearts again. I used the Stem sayings set too and stamped in chocolate chip. The scallop is colored like the little note card I posted recently. It took a little more time then I thought it would, but it was still fun to make. I hope you are making some fun stuff for those you love. Valentines is only 4 days away (Saturday), so you still have some time. It's something to think about anyways.
hope you have a great day!

valentine note cards part three

Hello everyone,
As far as I remember this is the last of the Valentine note cards. Valentines is quickly approaching. Hopefully some of these ideas are inspiring you to make some cards for those you love. I know my daughter is loving getting hers. I've been sticking ones in her lunch bag on Thursdays this month. Her friends think it's cool that she gets a nice note in her bag. :) I bet there is someone out there that you know that could use a little pick me up too.

One of the last little cards that I saw how to make from another demo is this little bird card. It was stamped in close to cocoa on the whisper white paper. Then they were stamped again on both the Candy Lane dsp and pink piroutte paper and then cut out and put on top of the image on the white. I then used the new heart to heart punch and glued the small heart in between the birds. I layered that onto the red dsp from the Candy Lane set and again on a whisper white note cards (which are cut 6 x 3 and then folded in half to make a 3 x 3 card.)

I also saw this little box to hold them in and had to make one. It's very little. I put a note card in one so you could see the size. It's kind of like a little magazine holder.
It's a folded piece of Pink Piroutte paper adhesed together with Sticky strip. I then added a strip of the wide Real Red grograin around the edge.
I then stamped the scallop image from the Love you Much Bundle and scalloped it out with the scallop circle punch.
I colored in the scallop stamp with Chocolate Chip (for words and outside scallop), Real Red on the little circles and red heart and then Pretty in Pink on the circled lines and then used a blender pen to color it in to make it more noticable. It was a pretty quick and easy project.

I hope you are having a great day. Remember to give a hug to someone special this week. It's good any week, but it's especially fun Valentine's week.

valentine note cards part two

Here are a couple more Valentine Note cards made with the Love you Much Bundle. These were a couple more items where I got the ideas from other demos. That's one of the nice things about being a demo is access to ideas by other demos. SAB time is also one of the best times to join. Right now they are offering 15% off the starter kit and you also receive a free stamp set. It's a really good deal, so if you are looking to earn some extra money or want to be a hobbiest and earn a discount, let me know. I'd love to have someone to share ideas with.

Right now, I'm working on some class ideas, so because of that I'm posting these for now and will post the others later when I get them done. I'm also going to enter another contest with SU so I'm working on that stuff too. If you haven't heard I actually won the last one I entered and I won a free stamp set. It was so exciting. I don't normally win stuff, so that was fun. So keep your fingers crossed. Maybe it can happen again. :)

Here is what I used to make these items.
For the top card:
Paper: pink piroutte, Candy Lane DSP, chocolate chip, whisper white.
Markers: chocolate chip, pretty inpink, real red
For the bottom card:
Paper: chocolate chip, real red, whisper white
Markers: real red, Chocolate chip, pretty in pink
accessories: paper snips, pink grosgrain ribbon
Hope you have a great day today. God bless.

valentine note cards part one

Over the next couple of times I'm going to post some little note cards. I believe most of these ideas were cased or modified from other demos. They were so cute and quick and easy that I couldn't resist trying them. These are using the Love you much bundle that was on sale last month. You can still buy these parts, you just buy them separately now. They make great little Valentine notes for those you care about. You ought to try some. They take very little time and are a lot of fun

I used the following to make these cards.
stamps: Love you much
ink: top: pretty in pink, chocolate chip, real red markers; bottom close to cocoa
paper: real red, chocolate chip, pink piroutte, whisper white, candy lane dsp
accessories: scallop circle punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch

butterfly notecard - new glitter technique

New glitter technique.
Here is another one of my note cards that I made. It's really hard to get a good shot to get the details. It's very glittery in real life.
This effect is made by stamping an image on a transparency (or acetate) with Stazon ink (black). You let that dry. I used Flight of the butterfly for this image.

Then you flip it over and on the backside you use your two way glue pen and put glue on the area that you would like your first color (here I did what was to be the orchid area first and drew heart shapes to represent the butterfly wings). I then added some orchid fine cosmos glitter and let dry.
Then I went back and added more glue (around the butterfly) and then sprinkled the acetate with dazzling diamonds to give it that overall shimmer and let dry.

One tip that would help, which I didn't do here. Before applying your glue pen for the first time, run your embossing buddy over the acetate to help with static cling. It should help keep the glitter off the rest of the card.

Once it's done you adhere the image (glitter side down to a piece of whisper white paper. Less messy that way.
I then curved the edges with my scissors as two pieces didn't work well in the corner punch and then attached to my orchid paper with ticket corner punched edges. I finished it off on my black note card to help the butterfly stand out.
On the inside I added a piece of white (or you could stamp with white ink) to fit my sentiment.
I hope you had fun seeing this little technique. It was fun - just keep the static cling at bay. Hope you have a great day.

textured baskets

My daughters teachers have been very patient these last couple of weeks as we've learned about the new requirements of her new classes. So I decided to make them these baskets - filled with chocolate of course (not pictured). I used the Big Shot and the Basket and blooms die and the new textured plates. I chose pink because that's her homeroom teacher's favorite color. I'm showing a couple of different pictures because two different texture plates were used on the baskets. I used Regal Rose and Rose Red as my colors and used rose red ribbon and a silver brad. I cut up rose red paper and crimped it for my filling.

I just realized that it's hard to see the texture in the bottom picture. The textured pattern is similar to the swirls from Baroque motifs. It's very pretty in real life.
Sorry, I can't take another picture because she took them to school already. I hope it gives you some ideas to be creative too. If you don't have the big shot, you could always form a little box or decorate a small gift bag to give as a gift. Every one appreciates a little something from time to time. Is there anyone you can say thank you too today?

Notecards part 1

Note cards. Fun quick little cards. Here is another one that I did really fast. My note cards are 3x3 if you need to know (or a 6x3 paper folded in half. On this one I used the Happy Heart stamp set and stamped in rose red craft ink and embossed with clear powder. Then I added rose ribbon and a heart from the Heart to Heart punch. Super cute and a great little something for someone you care about.

Also this second one is the same picture as my last post, except it is note card size. I like the spacing on this one and it's really easy to color with the markers. Super fun I think.
What about you?

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

I hope everyone is staying warm and safe tonight. We got lucky this time and the bulk of the snow missed us this time. We only got about an inch but the wind is freezing today.

I just realized this isn't a very good picture of this card. It's much nicer in person. You can't see the variation much on the picture. It's colored with both pretty in pink and real red. Even the words go from light to dark. That was done with markers. It was a fairly quick and easy project which is my thing lately it seems. It also showcases a different bow.

For this card I used pink piroutte, real red and whisper white paper. I stamped this from a Happy Heart using pretty in pink, real red and old olive markers (varying the shades from light to dark). The ribbon is real red. To make the bow - you cheat. You make a circle with a piece of ribbon put together with glue dots, then you wrap a smaller piece around it and adhere it together then you glue dot the bow to the card on top of another piece of ribbon wrapped around. It's really quick and easy. You ought to try it. Hope you enjoy this idea and have a "Happy Heart" today.
