more valentine projects

Do you all remember the little fortunes we made in school.? You know the ones where you pick a color and move the fortune as many times there were letters. Then you did a number and did it again until you got to the end and you lifted up the fortune for that person. Well these were made the same way. They make cute little candy holders. Just fold them and add handles. I also rounded my points to make it a little more baskety. I know that's not a word, but I couldn't help it.
I thought this was a great idea. Stampin' Up! shared it with us demos and I couldn't resist. I gave these to my club members. Each one was slightly different as I used our hostess 6x6 pack to make them. I forgot to take pics of the group though, so this is all I have left.

My handle is the Dotted Scallop Ribbon punch.










I also made some more mini cards. Here is one of them. It uses the Filled with Love set and the heart of hearts embosslit from the big shot. I stamped the background on it and then I added a punched heart using the full heart punch. Don't you just love it when they coordinate? Then I backed it with a black heart from the embosslit - another coordinating piece. Then I added some real read grosgrain ribbon and then a little gem in the top right hand of the heart. The heart is also raised up on Dimensionals.
Pretty quick and easy card.

valentine mini magazine box

Valentine is fast approaching so for our club meeting this month our focus was on Valentines. We made this mini magazine file type of box. We made it with Pretty in Pink paper.
It wasn't my idea, but I can't remember where I first saw it. I had written down some notes about it last year and now I can't remember where I saw it or who originally created it or if it even said who created it. If I find out or remember I will update my post.

It is a fairly simple design. Its made out of one piece of 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper cut down and scored and folded. We decorated these boxes fairly simple, but you can make them as elaborate as you want.
It can also be used for other holidays too. I can see Birthdays, thank you notes, Christmas, etc. Just change out colors and stamp set. This little box holds several 3x3 cards with envelopes.
I used the stamps from the Filled with Love stamp set to decorate this box. The heart matched the heart punch and the backing is the Scalloped heart of hearts embosslit. I then added some Real Red grosgrain ribbon and some Dimensionals and was done. I also added a gem to the front of the circle. Sorry I didn't get a picture of that part. You can sort of see by this picture that I stamped the circle with red, then I matted it with a pink circle and then a red one. Using our great punches of course.

pop can mummy

Hi everyone,
I'm sorry I dropped off the face of the earth from a blog stand point. Time flies without realizing it. Who knew middle school would take so much time? Take that in consideration with a new sport my child is playing, the bible study I'm teaching now, my son starting boy scouts, and all the fun holiday projects I've been making have taken all my free time. Sorry it's been so crazy. I know these are too late for this year, but might give you some ideas for next year.

Now this mummy idea isn't new. I made a card with it last year. What was fun about this project was that we made pop cans with them. We just took a fruit can and I opened the bottom of it with a safe can opener. I then covered it with vanilla cardstock and a few vanilla strips edged with soft suede ink. I used punches to punch out the eyes. Really fast and easy. Then we filled them with treats, rimmed the bottom with crystal effects and sealed the bottom back on. They can pop the top that way. It was funny though, my daughters teachers were afraid to open them - afraid something would pop out. That would be a fun idea though. I might have to think about that for next time. Too fun.

matchbox and big flower club project

We made these little matchbooks at club. I saw the idea first I believe from Becky Roberts a fellow demonstrator. I did modify it some though. I used Poppy parade, a new incolor, and Not Quite Navy and whisper white. This little book opens up to hold little 3x3 note cards. The flower on top we made with the big flower punch. We then took a smaller circle punch and then punched the ends of the petals. We then cut in with our snips toward the center. I thought it looked like a pretty summery type flower. Just a little blue is all. :) We then stamped the circle from Just Believe and punched that out and added a dimensional underneath and a little crystal jewel on top for a little added bling. We scalloped the front using the scallop border punch and tied Whisper white ribbon around the bottom to hold the "secret" staple that holds it all together.
It was a fun little project that holds a few little cards.
It was fun to make and very easy. Just a few scores, a few punches and it was all done. I added a card on the inside that looks just like it except I added a saying to the front of the card on the bottom right side of the white.

milk carton bird house

I'm sorry but I'm not a very organized person. This is another item we made at club and I can't find who I saw this actual design from. I've seen several birdhouse ideas, but I'm positive there was one that looked pretty much just like this one. I really liked this one and it seemed simple enough for a large group to do.
If anyone knows, just let me know and I'll update. I keep saying I'll get more organized but it's just not working yet. We just have too much going on. I think I need to hire an organizer to set me up and then maybe I have a slim chance. :)

So anyways this birdhouse is made using the milk carton die. We stamped it with the wood grain background stamp in Chocolate chip. We punched a circle out of the one end for the hole. Used the scallop border to trim the edges of the top piece which is a Brocade Blue. Then punched a bird and leaves using the 2 step bird punch using bashful blue and certainly celery. We stamped the wing with the stamp set Vintage Vogue which will be in the new catalog. I used basic black marker for his eye. This one is made to set flat, but you could also punch a hole in the top with the cropodile and string a ribbon through and make an ornament out of it too. You could also crinkle up some strips of paper for fake straw to look like a nest inside. I ended up buying malted milk ball egg shapes to put inside as they looked somewhat like real eggs. I think most got eaten during class though. :) I guess I shouldn't expect chocolate would last long with a group of ladies . :) Oh well, we all had fun and got our chocolate fix in too. So in all it was fun night. I always have with my club ladies.

club project - matchbox and scallop flower

This was another of our club projects this past month. It is made with the matchbox die using Saffron paper. If you look really close you can see that I rolled the base of the box with the friends wheel using Saffron, so it gives it a tone on tone look. I wrapped the box in chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon and punched some leaves with the 2 step bird punch out of celery. The flower on top is made with 5 scallop circles. I balled each one up, inked all the edges and put a small flower (trio flower) and a brad in the center. You then smoosh all toward the middle (brad) and then loosen up the layers. It's a fairly quick and easy flower to make but it's fun and gives a nice effect. I'm liking making the flowers and trying out different punches and such to make them. It's spring and I'm ready to see some flowers. How about you? I actually saw daffodils blooming today. I like seeing them as it means winter has pretty much gone away (with a few exceptions, but for the most part). I mean here it can snow one day and have record heat the next. You just never know. It makes life interesting for sure, which is how I like it for the most part.

club projects - valentine project 1 sweet treat

This was one of our club projects we made tonight. We punched holes in the cardstock so you can sneak the candy out (see where the heart is). The little tag holds it all in. You pull the tag up and it reveals the hole to get the candy out. The heart and a saying is actually on the tag, which I forgot to take a picture of with it pulled out. The saying actually says "follow your heart it knows the way" from the Whimsical words set from SAB.
The base of the card is made with the Big Shot, but you could use any border punch really. Then I used heart shaped Sweet treat cups and Whimsical words again for the outside of the card. All the edges are inked with red ink and all the sayings are in red as well. I used the full heart punch to punch the hole for the sweet treat cups. Red gingham ribbon also finishes out the tag. A cute little Valentine card with a treat. A fun little project.

little gifts for club members

Here is a little gift I gave to my club members when we met last. This was a little file I picked up at convention. I thought they were pretty but wasn't sure how I would package them. I ended up putting them into a little pouch made with my table setting die from the holiday mini which expires Jan 4th. I punched it out and folded it up and attached the sides with brads. I then used the Christmas punch stamp (hostess set) and colored with markers (navy, red, olive) and then punched out with the scallop oval and stuck on with dimensionals. I inserted the files and some little mints covered in chocolate and thought it a cute little bonus gift. You could package anything small and slender that way (candy canes, pixie sticks, suckers, etc.) Pixie sticks might be cute for valentines. Hmmm I wonder what else would fit. I'll have to think about it. I bet a thin chocolate bar would fit, maybe a twix or Hersheys or something like that. I'll have to try out different things and see what fit. I see a trip to the store coming soon to get more ideas.

ornament punch angels

Sorry, I haven't posted much. It's year end at my real job and I have been working a lot. I also might not be posting as much the next few days as I'm going to try and move some of my items upstairs to start working on stuff up there. I'm getting older now and my knees just aren't the same to keep running up and down. Plus all my classes and events are upstairs, so it makes sense. It will just take time to move all my addiction...er.. I mean stash up. :)
So I'll try and keep up, but can't guarantee it.

So on to the project.
Aren't these the cutest things. I cased this idea from demo Sandi McIver and thought these were just great.
They are made with various punches. Mainly circle punches and then the ornament punch which is available until Jan 4th. I'm hoping it comes out in the new catalog as I've seen really cool stuff made with its shape. The blue angels went through the Big Shot and the petals a plenty folder. The wings I just ran the 2 way glue pen over and sprinkled Dazzling Diamond glitter over it. Their halos are just the gold cardstock punched with 2 sizes of circle punches. The hair is just a snipped circle. Everything is glued together and then hung with the cording also from the mini.
I also made the little red one without the Big Shot as some of my customers don't have that yet and wanted them to see an alternative way to make her pretty too. Here I used the background stamp in versa mark and then clear embossed it on the red. The wings are embossed in silver. Otherwise they are the same. Except that I just realized that the red angel lost her ribbon in traveling up the stairs. I was bringing up so much that it must have got caught on something. At least you can see a little better how it goes together that way. I also added another punch (the color of the hair) to make things look nicer in the back.
Anyways, I did think these were very cute and it was so nice of her to share her idea. I ended up making these for all my club members for Christmas. So fun.

tag boxes

Here is a box we did for club, holding several tags made with the ornament set and punch. I thought they turned out cute. They have a piece of acetate covering them holding everything in. The colors used for it were Crushed Curry, Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry and Always Artichoke. Of course it's tied with Rich Razzleberry ribbon and the tag is tied on with linen thread and the ones inside are tied with either silver or gold cording that was in the mini.

I also made this sample box using the Level 2 Hostess set. I didn't add cording to these though as it was to show how you could modify the box as needed. These were punched out using various coordinating punches. These were fairly quick and easy to put together. The hardest part was the acetate as the score lines are harder to see, but other then that a fairly simple design. You just make the outside box and then add the inserts (2 long sections and then one down the middle). Just adhere it down well is all you do. Put the top on and tie it with a ribbon and you are done.

pop up Christmas tree card

Wow, Christmas was hectic this year. Normally I'm way ahead and it isn't so crazy. Not sure why I was so far behind this year, but I was. I wonder if any of you were the same. Sorry I haven't posted much the last few days. I love making the holidays special for the family and we had 3 events in a 24 hour period to prepare for and two of them were at our house and the other I helped a lot with.
I know it's too late to make some of these projects but I wanted to show you some fun Christmas projects we have made at club and some other items I made. Maybe they can inspire you to get a jump on next year. lol. I know I need it if it's anything like this year.

This is a pop up tree card that I thought was a lot of fun. We stamped the tree parts, which were cut out with the Big Shot, with the Baroque Motifs stamp set in olive. The red skirt was also cut out with it as well. The front is embossed with olive using the snow swirled tree and Merry Christmas from Four the holiday. It's just such a wow card as everyone always ohhs when you open it up and see it pop up. It was so much fun I just had to share it.

So I hope you had a great day today and got to spend time with friends and family. I hope you got to take time and enjoy the real reason for the season too. I know I had to take time out and thank God for what all he has given me and my family. I wouldn't be where I am today without him. Merry Christmas everyone and have a great evening.

Hey everyone, I hope you have had a good Thanksgiving and got to have a great meal with some good friends or family. It always makes it more fun spending the holidays with special people for sure. We have another meal planned tonight with my side of the family, so we get two days of fun and good food. :)

This is the last item we did for club. I first saw this idea presented by demonstrator Angie Kennedy Juda.
I took notepads that I bought at any office supply store. I've heard you need those verses the cheaper ones, but haven't tried it myself to check for sure. I then took them to have it cut into 3 sections. The nice clerk actually did mine for free. I was so excited. I took a huge pile and they cut the whole pile at once. It was super cool. I picked the super long notepad, but you could use smaller ones. I'm a list maker so I like long lists, so I decided to use the big pad.

Since these were so long, a strip of 12 x 12 paper barely fit down the back, so I cut one piece to fold over the top and then I backed the whole thing with a matching piece of 12 x 12 strip, so it looked all nice and neat. Now if you wanted to you could add magnets to the back, but I haven't done that yet. I took the shopping bag from the Things I Love set (a freebie from convention - yeah) and colored it in using old olive and chocolate chip markers. I thought that appropriate since I was making shopping lists :) . You could use anything really though - butterflies, flowers, etc. I then punched it out with the 1 1/4" circle punch, then cut a real red piece with the 1 3/8" circle and then a chocolate chip scallop circle. I then put that all on the top of the pad (don't hit the paper though or you won't be able to rip them off, with a dimensional for depth. Then you are done. I think these in a package with a beaded pen and some other items would make a cute little gift for just about anyone.

punched pumpkin box

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We hope you have a great day and get to spend some time with friends or family. There is so much to be thankful for if you stop and think about it and I hope you get a chance to consider that thought some. I know it can be a busy day for some of you who have to prepare meals and such, so make sure you get some time to spend with others and just enjoy the moment. Those dishes can wait till later, right?

We personally get to have dinner with my in-laws tomorrow and then get to have dinner with my side of the family on Friday. Nothing like 2 good meals in a row with time to visit. We decided to do that years ago, so we could spend more time with each other and not be rushed.

Well, it seems like I've neglected poor thanksgiving this year and I've hardly posted any projects for it. This little box here is not my original creation and I've seen it on several sites so I'm not sure who originally created it. If you know let me know and I'll add it in. I've seen it made several different ways. I've seen pumpkins on both sides of it, with handles on it, with other attachments added to it, etc.
I made these for my club ladies and filled with little candies, so I only decorated one side as my hands couldn't punch and cut that many more. One of the side effects of too much ball playing as a kid I believe and of course age (but we won't go there) :) . It's hard to tell by the photo but it's a small box and it's decorated with wide oval punches made into a pumpkin. You punch 5 ovals per pumpkin. I inked my edges and glued them together. I used the Autumn Harvest stamp set to make the leaf and cut each out by hand. The stem is just a strip of Chocolate chip and I free hand cut the top edge. The little box is just folded pumpkin pie cardstock sealed with sticky strip. I thought it was a cute project and just had to make it for them. I'm thankful that there is such great talent out there that share their ideas. It is greatly appreciated and makes it fun to see so many great projects. I'm also grateful for my club ladies, my friends and family, as they help me faithfully research, try, and also create new items each month to make new and fun projects for them. It greatly helps me stretch my creativity. I'm also thankful to God for the talents and blessings He has bestowed on me and my family. We are truly blessed.

club extra - sweet treat

This is the little extra thing that I gave club members this month. It uses the sweet treat cups. I stamped the image from the Sweet Centers set in Elegant Eggplant and punched out with 1 3/4" circle punch. I added candy to the cup, popped it through the hole and added a olive background piece to help hold the candy in. Before I added candy though I lined up the cup with the back green piece and added the saying part that I punched out to the back of the piece, so when they open it they will also see the saying. I then added a pumpkin pie piece of cardstock as the final background. I added a sucker stick to the back with pop up glue dots stretched around and then placed another piece of cardstock over that to help hold it down.
I like the little sweet treat cups. They were fun to work with and easy. They even come with adhesive attached, which makes attachment a breeze.

If you wanted to you could make a little escape hatch for the candy using another hole punch and tag, but I let these be the way they were.

Cheep talk pizza box

For club this month one of the items we made were these little pizza boxes decorated with the cheep talk set. The picture with the blue background is the actual box and the one with the celery is the card that fits inside the box. This little box can hold several little 3x3 cards and envelopes and would make a cute little gift for someone. This could be used for thank yous, birthday, thinking of you etc. I can even see this being a cute teacher gift or a coworker thank you, etc. It can also hold a gift card or anything small really.


The dimensions of the card are 3x3 (cut your paper 3x6). The box's dimensions are 6x11". If you have the short side (6" side) in your cutter score at 1 & 5". Turn to the long (or landscape) side and score at 1,5,6 &10. Then you just cut the flaps to the first score line and sticky strip your tabs to the box. I used a 1" punch to punch a finger hold for the box top. Then you just open your box and insert your cards. Pretty quick and easy.

club item - pouch

This is a little pouch we made at club this past month. It uses the Flower Fancy stamp set. This uses a couple new IN colors. This pouch opens up and holds candies inside (I have 4 reeses in a cello bag). The pouch is made with Rich Razzleberry. The flower is stamped with black Stazon and watercolored with inks (Rich Razzleberry and Always Artichoke) using a blender pen. The center is colored with Crushed Curry marker. The ends are punched with the ticket corner punch. I used white, Crushed Curry and Always Artichoke to frame the watercoloring. I used the cropodile to punch holes in the pouch and I pushed Crushed Curry Polka Dotted ribbon through the holes and then back through. You have to twist the ribbon some in the back if you want the polka dots to show as it would naturally turn. So I hope you enjoy my little pouch and you get to have something sweet added to your day today. :)

The dimension of the pouch is 3 3/4" x 9 14/16. It is scored at 15/16", 4 15/16, 5 15/16

club project - big shot flowers and decor elements

I got to spend tonight with some enjoyable ladies. They are so fun. Here is the 3d item we got to make at club. I found these cute little pails at the Target dollar spot. We decorated them with the Eastern blooms Decor elements. I then painted some candy sticks with green galore reinker, which matched the pails perfectly. Then I die cut the flowers out of the Big shot (2 each one) and inked, curled and layered them to form the flower. We attached them to the sticks using pop up glue dots. I then stuck them in some floral foam and covered it with the crinkle grass that matched the green. For the leaves I punched out an oval and snipped the ends and used the bone folder to create lines and then I attached them on with glue dots. I thought it was a fun spring display. With the cold weather and rainy days lately I just wanted something festive and lively.
So I created this and it's bright and cheery and fun. So what do you think? Do you like it? You'll have to share what you think. Hopefully it will bring a smile to your day.

Sale-a-bration of Hope class

This is a class I will be offering on the evening of March 5th. We will be transforming a notebook into a prayer journal, beading a pen (decorating a pen with DSP and covering it with beads), creating a ribbon bookmark with a butterfly covered in beads, and decorating a small box that will hold some uplifting scripture cards, which will also be included (NIV version). This uses many supplies that are showcased in our Sale-a-Bration promotion going on (Spend $50 in product and get a choice of one of six items in our Sale-a-Bration brochure).

The cost of the class is $15 and the class can hold 10 and is already filling up. Let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in this one. Note: The $15 does not count toward Sale-a-bration purchases as it is used to offset supplies that will be already purchased.

I thought this one would be a good one to offer right now for a couple of reasons. One I've been hearing some negative comments from people about the economy and also having the winter blahs. I thought this would be a good pick me up class as it takes the focus off of us and onto God. It can also help aide us as we pray for our friends and family and world at large by helping us to focus our prayers and also by recording how God does answer our prayers. Because God is definitely good.

Secondly I thought it would be good, because I thought it would be a good precursor class to the new trial scrapbooking our faith bible study that will happen soon. It would give us another resource to use to help us record our blessings that we have as we work on the scrapbooks. You might could use some of the items you record in your prayer journal in your actual scrapbooks or the class might help you focus some prayer ideas for your prayer journal too. So that's the jest of why I wanted to offer this class.
Even if you don't participate in the bible study, this idea can be used on it's own or would also make a great gift idea. This is also not mandatory to participate in the bible study. They are two separate class ideas.

club projects - project 2 love you much

It is very cold here today. We've been iced in the last couple of days, so I've taken some time to pick up a bit so I haven't created much in the last couple of days. So here is another of our club projects. I hope to share more soon, but for now here are some instructions to help you remember if you've done this before or if you have never done it before these might help.

Here is a second project we made with the Love you Much Bundle. It was fun and quick to make. It could be filled with candy or small gifts, etc.
This idea can be used for other holidays too (Easter, birthday, Halloween, etc).
We stamped the big heart in white and heat embossed and cut out. The red hearts were punched out and glued on and then the dashes were made with the white gel pen. The pink ones were stamped in Riding Hood Red and punched out. The top one is popped out with a dimensional. The white part is stamped with the three heart stamp that matches the punch with pink piroutte on both sides.
This is made with the medium envelopes. You seal the envelope then punch each top corner with the tag punch one & a half times to make the handle (it should still be connected in the middle.) You want to cut the two ends that would be the say top left and bottom left if you were addressing it. You also turn the punch face down toward the bottom (long part) when holding it on end. Then you just snip off the little extras to make it a straight edge and then you are done. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have questions. Hope you have a great day and stay warm.

club projects - project 1 love you much

Well today is officially a snow day here. Our first of the season. It's bad enough that they canceled school, but people are still out and about. More is coming though and this time it's ice, so hopefully everyone stays safe.
Last night we squeaked in club before it all hit.
Here is one of the items we made. I got this idea from fellow demo Dawn Griffith. This little box will stand up (the picture was easier to take laying down). It's a real cute gift idea for someone special. It opens up and holds chocolate one of my favorite things. :)

Here is what I used to make it and also some dimensions for those of you who would like to know. Also the Love you Much bundle is still on sale. Let me know if you are interested or see my Stampin' Up! site to order it. The sale ends Saturday.

Riding hood red cardstock - 2 1/2" x 11", scored at 2 3/4",3 1/4", 7 1/4", 7 3/4", 9 1/4", & 9 3/4"
After you score it attach dsp to back and fold with bone folder to get a crisp fold (make sure to stick well). Fold the next to last fold out to form a stair step.
The size of the dsp is 2 1/4" x 10 3/4". Here I used the new Candy Land paper with the stripes vertical.
I then pushed the stair step section (where the chocolate slides in) into my word window punch and pushed it in as far as it would go and punched (it should punch between the two score lines). That makes the hole for your chocolate to fit in.

Next attach the top of the folded dsp with a dimensional in each upper corner to the back of the cardstock (make sure bottom is flat on table, so it will stand up on it's own.).
then you place a piece of sticky strip on inside between score lines (see where brown ribbon is.) then you place one edge of chocolate ribbon in the middle and circle around and put the other end to match the others so both ends are in the inside. My ribbon is 10" of chocolate chip.

For the front of the box. I punched the hearts out of Riding hood red with the heart to heart punch and attached to box. I then placed dots on them with the gel pen.

For the front circle piece I punched out a piece of chocolate with the 1 3/4" circle punch and a pink piroutte with 1 1/4 punch. I then used markers and inked up the hugs and kisses stamp from the Love you much stamp set with the following colors (outside scallops and heart with dots with real red, words with chocolate chip). Then I huffed on it and stamped on whisper white paper. I then punched out the middle part with a 1" punch and the rest with the scallop circle punch (yes there is a hole in the middle but it will get covered up).
Then you layer the items (chocolate circle on bottom, followed by scallop stamped image with hole, then pink circle) then layer the hugs and kisses circle on top with a dimensional to help it pop up.

Once done with the circle items find the top (so heart is right side up) and place 3 dimensionals on the back at the top (leave bottom open).
Attach this to front of box so bottom half isn't touching anything.

Add a velcro dot to the bottom half of circle now and remove adhesive.
Make sure box is square before closing the box to attach velcro to other side (leave pieces connected and close, don't try to put each half of the velcro on separate it's too hard to match up.

The next step is to add chocolate and then you are done (if you haven't eaten it all by now. :) )
