scrapbooking your faith - winter

This was my January SYF. We discussed having winters in our life. Times when things aren't always going right or are "darker" so to speak. Winter with it's starkness and lack of light can feel that way at times. It's during those times that we need to focus more of our time and energy on God and his wisdom. If we rely on him, he can direct our paths and help us through the harder times. He can help us focus on the beauty that winter brings into our lives. I know I love to look at an area (especially a wooded area) after a fresh batch of snow has fallen. Sometimes it's almost magical and extremely beautiful. What we have to remember is that the winter times help strengthen us and helps us persevere.

I know it's not really the time to think about winter in the middle of a hot spell of our summer. I apologize for being so far behind. I guess you could say at this time, I'm still going through a winter of sorts with trials. I know though through it all God will remain faithful and I will persevere.


These pages mainly use the Big Shot, but it also uses the Snow Swirled stamp set.

6x6 ghost page

This was a cute little page I did for a demonstration. It can be used for a 6x6 scrap page or you can move the sentiment down and make it a 3x6 card. I love the versatility of it and even if Halloween is over, I know some of you have some cute pictures to scrapbook.
This page was really easy. I used the jumbo roller to roll the bats for the background using Old Olive ink. I scalloped a piece of Concord crush and added our new black lace ribbon to the top. I used a saying from the Wicked cool set and punched it out using the large oval and then punched a scallop oval using Concord again. The ghost if you look closely are basically upside down owls with the feet cut off. I just punched them out, inked the edges and then used my black marker to add eyes.
I thought it a great idea - using the owl punch that way. I'm not sure who first thought of it, but I got the idea from our Stampin' Connection site that demonstrators can send ideas too.
Anyways I thought it was fun and thought it might help you come up with a fun page idea for your pictures.

6x6 progressive pages elements of style

Okay, I showed you the 6x6 page or card I did for my last workshop and here is where I showed off my progressive pages (it was also one of my hostess gifts.) What are progressive pages? Well, it's one way to show how you can "progress" a 6x6 page into an 8 1/2 x 11 page and then into a 12x12 page. That way you can show how to use what we make in a workshop to fit other sizes. Not everyone scraps in 6x6 so this shows them another option.

This first page has my 6x6 page on an 8 1/2 x 11 page. I matted it with Razzleberry and then added some more vanilla and then an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of razzleberry. I again stamped the flowers from the Elements of style set and punched out another butterfly with my Big Shot and then added some olive satin ribbon. Have I said how much I like the satin ribbon? Well I definitely do as you can tell by most of my samples. :)

Next I laid my 8 1/2 x 11 page onto a 12x12 piece of vanilla and then stamped and inked some more and then of course added more butterflies. I wrapped the butterflies with the linen thread and tied the knot near the top to make them look like antennae. I thought it turned out to be a pretty page and can't wait to add some pictures and journaling.
So I hope you enjoy the share and it gives you an idea of how to make some progressive pages if you need too. Sometimes it's easier to start with a smaller project and work out, especially if you just have maybe one or two pictures.

scrapbooking your faith -things I love

Sorry I've been such a slacker posting lately. It's been very busy here. Last week we took some vacation time even and I used a lot of the time to get caught up on cleaning in various parts of our house. You know you are busy when you don't have time to clean. :)
We did go somewhere too, but the days we stayed home we did quite a bit of cleaning. Not that you could tell it much in our cluttered home, but it did make a dent and made a couple rooms much nicer.

So I haven't had a lot of time to create outside of class material lately it seems. Between work, having to lead a bible study at church now and trying to keep up with family stuff along with my stamping classes it's been busy. I need to take another vacation day and just create I think. :) That would be lots of fun.
So I was looking at my blog and realized what a slacker I had been with my blog and especially with my scrapbooking your faith posts. I haven't posted those the last several months and I hadn't even realized it. So here is the pages we did several months ago. We used a few sets here as well as some punches. The main stamp set we used was the Things I Love stamp set. We also used some others too, but they aren't all in the new catalog. There is a similar one though so that's good. We also used several punches including the full heart punch, large oval and some circle punches. We also inked all the edges.
We focused this lesson on the things we focus on and spend time on or with - kind of like our favorites. We put a cross near the front because I hoped those attending the bible study placed God high up in their lives as well as their families and loved ones (hence the saying, "but most of all you" punched out with the oval). The others were used mainly for favorite items, but could be interchanged depending on likes or what photos they had. I tried to pick items they might have pictures of and could journal about. I placed strips so they could add lists of favorites or multiple photos. They could do it like in columns even if they wanted to. Have pictures with lists under or around them.

I made these pages for a couple reasons. One, I thought it might help us focus where we spend our time and such. I also thought they could be fun page to look back on. Our favorites change over the years and sometimes it's fun to look back and see what we liked - what foods, what styles, what events, etc. Even what people were in our lives at the time as they change over time too.

presto prom page

A friend of mine's daughter got to go to prom this year with her boyfriend for the first time. I decided to make her a page for some of her pictures. It's really hard to tell by these pictures, but this is super sparkly and really is neat in person. Her prom dress had purplish blue stripes on it. So I took one of our presto pattern papers and inked with navy and lilac. I then spritzed the paper with vanilla smooch spritz and made the whole thing glimmer. Her shoes and his tux cumberbund was silver so I added silver paper mats. I then punched out some flowers using the Big shot and drew lines on them and smooched them too. I inked the edges and put together with a silver brad. I punched the word prom out of my Big shot as well and added more smooch. Basically everything on this sparkles, even the mats.

I tried to get some close up shots to see the glimmer, but couldn't get it to pick up well. I would try again, but I don't have the page anymore.

So I hope this gives you an idea of a way to use these papers. I have had questions on how to use them and this is one way you can use them. You can also cut them up and just color parts and use on cards or as accents and such.

another simple scrap page

Here is another simple combo scrap page. This one uses the cottage wall dsp. I also used the just perfect stamp set and my Big shot and daisy die. I kept the design simple and wanted to add several pictures with some simple matting. Like I said it had been so long since I got to scrap some that I was trying more for cute and quick. So that is what I did. I also took limited supplies, so I only ended up with only so much to work with, which is interesting for me as I'm use to being able to pull from like my about ten year stash. I don't remember when I started buying SU, but I know it's been quite a few years ago and I still love the stuff. The paper of course is Rich Razzleberry and I chose Turquoise mats and the green dsp to match the colors in the dresses in the photos.



I was trying to show the pages together, but the editor is doing weird things again. the picture before it is pulled in looks horizontal, but when it inserts it it goes vertical and I haven't figured out how to rotate it in this program. So sorry about the sideways view.

scrapbooking vacation

I actually had time to do some scrapbooking for myself not too long ago. I don't get a lot of time to do that so it was a treat to be able to do that for a change. I took time to scrapbook a trip from awhile back. I chose to use black and turquoise as my two main colors. It's hard to see but I stamped a swirl in each of the corners using the Baroque motifs stamp set. I used the new butterfly embosslit to make all the butterflies. I show both pages separate and then together. I enjoyed the colors in these pages. They were a simple design but if I want to get much done I need to keep things simple.

kids scrapbook class

I'm having a scrapbook class on May 2nd (Sunday) at 2:00. We'll make 20 pages 6x6 size. I'm charging $17 for this class. It's for a child/adult to come and do together or an adult can come and make it for a child as a gift. I need rsvp's by Friday if you are interested in this class.
The class time onsite includes everything you need to make these except for adhesive and kid friendly scissors.




Part 2 of the class is an additional $7 and includes page protectors and a covering (as shown) that you also make in class. So if you'd like part 2 too then the total would be $24 for both parts. When you rsvp I'll need to know which parts you'd like to do (i.e. part one or part two). I'll assume if you say part two that you mean both parts.

A lot of these page ideas came from demonstrator marlise Klein. I changed up a few to match more of my customers tastes, but the general ideas and many of the pages originally came from her. She was generous enough to share these ideas with demonstrators on our stampin connection a great new site that SU set up for us demonstrators to share ideas.
This could also be made up as a class to go, but I'd have to share what other items you would need to complete it on your own. For that type of class I haven't included shipping either - that would be extra.

Here are a few more scrap pages. Some of the nice features are you can change the colors of pretty much everything. You can add shadow effects so items look 3d like I did with my words on the stamps on the top page. You can also change the colors and sizes of the punches too. As in the wide oval on the bottom page.
I can't remember if I said this before, but there are some stamp sets in the studio that aren't in the catalog. One of them is a cute cats stamp set. In that set is a mouse and on every page in my book I hid a mouse. In these two pages he's easy to find, but others are very difficult because I color matched them. Here is another page I did with My Digital Studio. I added some stamps from the All in the family set. I just used a basic design since I wanted to show off the pictures and the special bond between father and son.
It was so quick and easy to do.

my digital studio

I'm so enjoying My Digital Studio. I've already created some cards, a book, scrap pages, a flyer and I'm working on a calendar. It's been really fun to play around with. It's easy to work with too.
I put together a couple of pages of our trip to Salt Lake city this summer. This is some fun we had in our free time.

These two pages are in my book. I tried to put on each of my double layouts at least one rhyming thing and then I hid a mouse on each page. There is a stamp set in the digital studio that you can't buy and it includes cats and it has a mouse in it. My kids like the story Good Night Moon, so I did something similar and put a mouse on each page. The fun thing was that you can color match stamp sets, so sometimes I made the mouse really hard to find. Hey, I couldn't make them all easy. Gave them something to look forward too. :)

Also, didn't this paper match her shirt so well? I couldn't resist using it. Besides Designer papers and cardstock you can also use your own pictures as background.


Sorry I haven't posted as much lately. I'm having 5 events this month which is a lot for me especially when you add on work and all the kid's stuff too. It's no excuse, but it does take time away from my creative side some. Anyways, I hope you enjoy seeing a couple of my sample pages.

Hoppy memories 12x12 page 1

I took time this weekend to finally do some scrapbooking just for fun. Yeah! I finally used my Hoppy Memories scrap kit. Unfortunately you can't get that one through SU anymore (it's retiring and sold out), but I thought I'd still share some pages I made just to show some of the design. You can substitute items and still have the same effect. Like you could stamp or use chipboard letters instead of the cardstock stickers, use the pattern papers instead of the kiwi, etc. Another demo shared how to get 16 pages out of a sskit and some extra cardstock so I tried her idea. I did tweak it here and there though to fit my likes and pictures. So here is page one. The first picture shows the page without my pictures so you can visualize it better. The second I added my pictures and I also outlined play with chocolate so it would stand out better as I thought that the kiwi got sort of lost on the kraft.

I also added some ribbon (orange ric rac) from the Pig Tails Ribbon originals too, but pretty much everything else came from the scrappin' kit.
I wanted to use this earlier, but it took me a while to find the pictures that went the best with this paper. I chose our trip to the aquarium as it has a lot of blues, green and red in it. We also saw frogs, turtles and lizards and such, so I thought it fit this paper really well. So I hope you enjoy the pictures and ideas and have a great day today.

Wild about you 12x12 pages

Did I say recently how I'm going to miss this set? lol. I know I'm showing this one a lot. Alas it is on the retiring list. This will be the last pages for a bit. I have some other things to show you after this.
Besides making the baby album, gift bag and gifts, etc. I also created this 12 x12 page set for my album for my kids. I got inspired by the one 6x6 page set and made this one. Now all I need to do is stick on some 4x6 pictures and I'm done. I'm liking the quick mat mounting that I've been doing lately.

These are fairly basic pages. I stamped the 3 animals on very vanilla cardstock in Brocade blue (elephant), so saffron (giraffe) and old olive (alligator). I then stamped an extra elephant, alligator and giraffe and cut them out. They are raised up on dimensionals and the alligator is placed so a picture will slide right in under it.

I also added chocolate chip marker to the cut out giraffe to make it spots and mouth and eyelashes stand out. I also roughed up some edges using the distressing tool.
Pretty quick and easy pages. I hope you enjoy seeing them as I had fun making them.

more baby boook

Okay, I know new stuff is exciting, but there are some other things I want to show you as well. Here is another really cute page (at least I think so) that I made for my friends baby book. It uses the Wild About You set that is retiring. I'm bummed that this one is retiring as I really like it if you have kids or have a lot of kids you like to send stuff too or like to scrapbook. This was a fun little page. I thought it was quick and cute to add pictures too.

baby scrapbook pages 2 & 3

Sorry I haven't posted lately. It's been a somewhat busy last few days. School ended, had my bible study class (I'll have to show those pages too), had to meet with a landscaper... I could go on and on it seems. I also got my new preview stuff in and my NEW CATALOG! Can you tell I'm excited. I'm working on getting some stuff together to show you. We aren't allowed to show pictures of the actual sets or catalog pages until it's release date, so I have to make some items with the new stuff and I can post those. It's exciting. My list is soo long. It's a good thing this catalog goes for a year now. :)
So in the meantime, I thought I'd show a few pages of a 6x6 album I made for a good friend of mine. She's having a baby soon, so I thought I'd make her a book for the beginning baby stuff. I used somewhat neutral colors as they don't know what they are having. I used the Wild About You set on most of the pages, but didn't use it on this one just used the same color scheme. I can't believe that set is retiring. I really like it.

I wanted to show these pages because of the brads. I forgot to take a really close up of it, so this is as close as I can get for now. The brads are actually the very vanilla brads in the hodgepodge hardware set. I colored them. I stuck them in the old olive craft pad and then wiped off the top. The ink stays in the grooves. I then dipped it into some clear embossing powder and heated it and it gave it a shiny appearance. Pretty quick and made a cool embellishment that matched. You can also color the whole item with craft ink and embossing powder. So a vanilla hardware can become pretty much any craft color you'd like. I still need to try it myself, but SU showed us a video on it and it's really cool. I also sponged the background pages to give them more dimension too. 6 x 6 sunshine garden 20 page scrap class

I'm offering a class to make 20 6x6 pages using part of the Sunshine garden Scrappin' kit. Everything is included to finish the pages except adhesive and the album (all paper, ribbons, cardstock, adhesive die cuts, etc.) The cost is $18. If you can't be there it can be done at home as all you would need to complete this project is adhesive and an album to put them in. The price doesn't include shipping though if you want it mailed. I would need to know immediately if you are interested though as these items will be on the retiring list coming it in 3 days. I didn't come up with this idea. I did modify it slightly though. One of the nice perks of being a demonstrator is that they post challenges on the demo side of their website and this was one of the winning ideas. This one was created by demonstrator Brenda Miller and I just slightly modified it. It's a really quick project and would make a great gift. All you would have to do when finished is add some pictures and it would be ready to go. So if you are interested in this class let me know quickly. If you'd like to add on an album let me know that too as I can order that for you too. I'll be making an order the first of June, so let me know if you need anything.

more baseball scrapbooking

I may not get to post much the next day or so. I'll have to see how it goes. I've taken a couple of days off of work to get caught up on some much needed items here at home. Many of you know we got water in our basement last year and we got that fixed last year. we also had to empty out three rooms of stuff. Unfortunately it hasn't all gotten back to where it needs to be. I spent today cleaning out one room and didn't get finished and have several more to go. There is also general catch up work to do too. Combine that with spring break and my children wanting to do some things as well. Anyways I'll try to post the next few days, but won't promise. Everything should be back to normal next week though. At least I hope.

So here is another page I did of my nephew playing ball. I again used Brilliant blue, white and black papers. The Go Team is from the Sporting and the balls and hat are from Just Baseball stamp sets. The balls are punched out and backed with black and they are raised up on dimensionals. The hat is raised up too. I added a little E on the hat using the white gel pen to match the teams logo. Here is a close up of that. I've had fun scrapbooking these pictures. I hope you enjoy them and are having a great week.

baseball scrapbooking

I'm very proud of my nephews both are awesome at both baseball and basketball. My oldest nephew is playing in a tournament with his high school team. Last year he even got to play on the freshman team as an eighth grader. My sister gave me some pictures of that time so I wanted to scrap some. Here is one of my pages. The page is a little hard to see, but I distressed it with some creamy caramel to make it look like a baseball that had been used a bit. The colors are white, Brilliant blue and black. The letters are the Varsity Alphabet stamped and then cut out and adhered to black and brilliant blue cardstock. Each picture is matted with both colors too. The ball is cut out with the circle scissors and then laces are drawn on with black marker. I thought it was a fun, but subtle page.

6x6 or a card

This posting shows how you can take the same idea or and make either a card or a 6x6 scrapbook page using pretty much the same materials (on the inside of the card you have white which is hiding here). I know some of you like to scrap and some like to make cards and some both. So here is an idea on how you can take the ideas we use and modify them either way. Cards can be used as scrapbook elements or ideas and vice versa.
This is a theme similar to the one we did at the kid's stamp a stack. It uses the masking with the rollers and the star punches.
It was fairly easy to accomplish, but I think makes a fun card or page.
So next time you get a card or a scrapbook page, look at it a little differently and see how you can modify your items to fit your needs. It is sometimes fairly easy and takes minimum changes. Hope you enjoy this and have a great day.

papers: real red, basic black, whisper white
ink: white, black
stamps: a little birthday cheer (for card)
accessories: big and little star punches, roller handle and whimsy roller, gel pen, Big shot and GoGo alpha die (scrap page numbers), heat gun and white embossing powder (for words on card).

Love is the permission to be...silly

Here are a couple of pages I made with the Love Stories SSKit. I think it's funny. I haven't hardly scrapbooked in a few months and what do I scrapbook - something gross.
I don't know if you can see it very well, but my kids were pulling out their gum and making it long like "a jump rope". Next thing I know their dad has joined in and it's mayhem everywhere. It was pretty funny once you overlooked the "ewwwh" factor. These pages were super easy to put together with the kit. I added a cardstock circle and inked some edges, so in no time they were done. Of course for me, picking out the pictures are the hardest part. Here are a couple of close ups of the pages. You ought to try our kits, they are nice. This one will also be in the new catalog as well as several new sets.
