Baby's first Birthday

We got the pleasure recently of getting to attend a good friend of ours baby's 1st birthday party. He had lots of fun and got gooey and sticky several times from all the good food. :)

I saw this color combo and similar idea in the new catalog and thought I just have to try this. Since I thought of my friend when I originally saw it, I figured it was a perfect occasion for it, as they love animals and especially monkeys.

I used Baja Breeze and Crumb Cake for the main colors. The happy birthday is from a new set in the catalog called Perfect punches. This particular stamp fits the wide oval punch. I love stamps that match punches and this is a whole set that matches. The monkey is also cut out and raised up on dimensionals for some added 3d effect.

I wanted it to be fun when it opened so I created some spirals with my 1 3/4" circle and then I punched out large and small stars to decorate it with. I also used the School days stamp set in the mini and stamped 1st and then punched it out with a circle punch too (that's what the little circle in the upper middle is). I added some white and baja items over the whole inside of the card. The card goes lower, but I forgot to take a picture before I wrote my greeting on the bottom so I only took the upper portion in the picture. The saying near the top says Birthday wishes and is again punched with the wide oval punch. I like moving fun cards, so I enjoyed putting this together for him for his 1st Birthday.

baby bib card

Not too long ago, a friend of mine had a baby shower. I saw this cute idea and thought I would try it too. I don't know who originated it, but I think it's pretty fun. This little bib card is made with the scallop circle Big shot die and the circle die. I used a circle punch to punch out the top part. It's a little hard to see, but it's a pretty in pink card. I stamped the baby from All in the family with stazon and colored it in with markers (pink and blush). The blush marker isn't retiring by the way. I then stamped the saying in pink as well and then added a pink ribbon. The scallops are attached at the top so the card opens upward to the inside, which says Congratulations in black. I used the set from the Well scripted set that was in the last mini, since that was still available at the time. I think it's pretty cool the way it worked out. I love cute different cards. You can do this with any die really. Just place the fold of the paper where it doesn't come all the way to one edge, so it ends up flat on that side like a fold. The cool thing with this one is that the way this card works this edge is almost hidden. If you don't like the flat edge in the front though, you can always cut two of them and fold the inside one just under the top edge and adhere it to the front to allow the card to open. So that's an option too.
I'm hoping tomorrow that I get some time to play a little. I got my new preview catalog today along with some preview items that we demos are allowed to pre-order. I was excited. Almost stalking the poor UPS person waiting for them to arrive so I wouldn't miss the delivery and have to wait until Monday. If I do get to play I'll have to post an entry in the next day or so. So much fun. It's like looking through a Christmas toy catalog when I was younger. I'd say I want that and that, etc. It's the same only with scrapping/stamping toys. :)

baby shower card

Here is a baby shower card that I made for a friend. It uses the new animal stories stamp set. I miss Wild About You, but I've seen some cute things made with this set too. This is the giraffe in the set. The lighting in this picture isn't great, but it uses IN colors. The giraffe is done in Crushed Curry with Soft Suede details. It's mounted on Curry, Suede, Durango and then Curry again. It's stamped on Whisper white. I made a mistake and got Durango on my Curry background sheet, so I decided to use that and smudged Durango on the Curry randomly and it gave it some character. I also inked the other pages too, so it all flowed together. Sometimes fixing mistakes turns out fun. :) The words are from the Teeny Tiny wishes set again - see it almost has every type of saying - at least it seems so. So I thought it a fun little card. A little bolder set of colors for me, but I was wanting something bright. I hope you enjoy my card today and have a great day today.

All star onesie

My friend's baby finally arrived and he is such a cutie. This little onsie card I made earlier and I was saving it for when he was born. I can tell he's going to be an all star "musical" baby. :) The proud daddy is a musician, but I don't have any musician sets, so I thought this all star one was fun in it's place.
These are fun little cards to make. You can make them in any colors, add scallops for the girls, etc. Basically you just take a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of cardstock and fold in half so it makes a regular size card. Then you use the circle punch to punch legs and a neck hole. I just straightened out the leg holes to make it look like the legs were down, but you could leave them alone if you want. It's hard to see but there is a score line across the bottom about 1/4" up too to look like where the snaps go. I just added strips for the sleeves and used 2 circle punches to make the little red collar. I've seen cards like this before but have no idea who created the first one, so have no idea who to credit for it. It's a fairly quick card and a lot of fun. wild about you onesies

I'm really going to miss this set. I know I've mentioned this lately. It retires at the end of the month. Anyways I have a good friend getting ready to have a sweet baby any day now and I just recently read that you can stamp on fabric. So I just had to try this set on some onesies. Here are a couple of the trials. Sorry the picture lighting isn't the best. It was the best I had at the time.
The elephant is what it looks like with no tweaking. The alligator I guess my ink pad was a little faint and it came out too light, so instead of working with the stamp-a-ma-jig I had a reinker and I decided to use a brush and touch it up a little. I've been told it should last in the wash, but I told her to try and let me know the results. If it turns out it doesn't work I'll let you know. Of course you can always stamp on items you wouldn't wash - purses, bags, hats, etc. I've also heard you can bleach stamp on them too, but haven't tried that yet (works best with dark colors). Here is a couple of tips I've learned in doing this. One I've heard you should ink the stamp and stamp off first and then reink before you stamp on fabric. I've heard if you condition your stamps this way it helps the ink sink in better. You also need to use craft/pigment ink and not classic. I've also heard that Stazon is not good for the fabric. Hold the stamp on the fabric a few seconds to make sure it sinks in before you move it.
You need to prewash the fabric, but don't use fabric softner (I found this out after I stamped mine- I'll let you know how mine do). It's important that they are washed beforehand helps with shrinkage and helps condition the fabric. Stamp the image and then heat set it. I did mine two ways. I used an iron first (with paper in between so it doesn't come off on the iron or stick) and then I threw it in the dryer for a bit too. So that's another idea for you. I've already picked out a couple more sets that I want to try out. I just got a good deal on t-shirts and I thought I'd stamp some t-shirts for my kids. If it works well, I might even try one for myself too. The wheels are already turning. So I hope this helps inspire you to try some new things. I'll try and remember to let you know how it turns out.

Wild about you 12x12 pages

Did I say recently how I'm going to miss this set? lol. I know I'm showing this one a lot. Alas it is on the retiring list. This will be the last pages for a bit. I have some other things to show you after this.
Besides making the baby album, gift bag and gifts, etc. I also created this 12 x12 page set for my album for my kids. I got inspired by the one 6x6 page set and made this one. Now all I need to do is stick on some 4x6 pictures and I'm done. I'm liking the quick mat mounting that I've been doing lately.

These are fairly basic pages. I stamped the 3 animals on very vanilla cardstock in Brocade blue (elephant), so saffron (giraffe) and old olive (alligator). I then stamped an extra elephant, alligator and giraffe and cut them out. They are raised up on dimensionals and the alligator is placed so a picture will slide right in under it.

I also added chocolate chip marker to the cut out giraffe to make it spots and mouth and eyelashes stand out. I also roughed up some edges using the distressing tool.
Pretty quick and easy pages. I hope you enjoy seeing them as I had fun making them.

more baby boook

Okay, I know new stuff is exciting, but there are some other things I want to show you as well. Here is another really cute page (at least I think so) that I made for my friends baby book. It uses the Wild About You set that is retiring. I'm bummed that this one is retiring as I really like it if you have kids or have a lot of kids you like to send stuff too or like to scrapbook. This was a fun little page. I thought it was quick and cute to add pictures too.

baby scrapbook pages 2 & 3

Sorry I haven't posted lately. It's been a somewhat busy last few days. School ended, had my bible study class (I'll have to show those pages too), had to meet with a landscaper... I could go on and on it seems. I also got my new preview stuff in and my NEW CATALOG! Can you tell I'm excited. I'm working on getting some stuff together to show you. We aren't allowed to show pictures of the actual sets or catalog pages until it's release date, so I have to make some items with the new stuff and I can post those. It's exciting. My list is soo long. It's a good thing this catalog goes for a year now. :)
So in the meantime, I thought I'd show a few pages of a 6x6 album I made for a good friend of mine. She's having a baby soon, so I thought I'd make her a book for the beginning baby stuff. I used somewhat neutral colors as they don't know what they are having. I used the Wild About You set on most of the pages, but didn't use it on this one just used the same color scheme. I can't believe that set is retiring. I really like it.

I wanted to show these pages because of the brads. I forgot to take a really close up of it, so this is as close as I can get for now. The brads are actually the very vanilla brads in the hodgepodge hardware set. I colored them. I stuck them in the old olive craft pad and then wiped off the top. The ink stays in the grooves. I then dipped it into some clear embossing powder and heated it and it gave it a shiny appearance. Pretty quick and made a cool embellishment that matched. You can also color the whole item with craft ink and embossing powder. So a vanilla hardware can become pretty much any craft color you'd like. I still need to try it myself, but SU showed us a video on it and it's really cool. I also sponged the background pages to give them more dimension too. wild about you gift bag

This is a gift bag that I made for my friend's baby shower. I made her a scrapbook. I might show some pages later. She picked an animal themed room and her invitations used the Wild about You set, so I decorated a bag for her to match the gift. This was a spin off of an idea we saw at convention. I used white for the bottom part of the bag (I didn't stamp directly on the bag as it has ridges for the handles, but you could work around them). I stamped Wild about you on in brocade on the top. I used the 5/8" old olive grosgrain ribbon and the faux bow technique. The tag is just a 6 x 3 card folded in half. I punched a hole in the corner with my cropodile and then cut a slit with my scissors. It fits right on. The rest of my animals were stamped with brocade blue, old olive and so saffron. It was all stuck on with sticky strip, including the ribbon to give it extra durability. I hope you enjoy it. It was fun making it. We are going to make a different bag in club this month too. Baby card

I got the pleasure yesterday of going to one of my friend's baby showers yesterday. She's having more then one, but this is the first one I got to go to.
She's going to have her first baby soon and she's going to make a great mom. I know because she has spoiled my kids on more then one occasion. She also has a great support system and lots of friends to help her spoil her little one too, which I can't wait for as I love spoiling little ones. Everyone has to have a baby fix from time to time right? Well maybe. ;), at least I do.
She picked an animal theme, so I made her this card. I made it a neutral color, since she doesn't know what she is having. I thought it turned out cute anyways. I also made one in blue too, so you could see another color made with it. I haven't had time to make a pink one yet, as I have too many classes to prepare for this week. I really like this Wild About You set. It has a lot of versatility. Not only can you use it for baby cards, but kid items, zoo scrapbooking, or if your kids like to pretend they are animals like mine do, it goes with that too. Just to name a few examples that is. I also used the Family Phrases for the words. They go with the cute people stamp set. This one says Happy New Baby.
So I hope she enjoyed this card as I made it a while back and have had to hide it for awhile now. It's funny I kept wanting to post it or show it to her and I would realize - not yet. So I hope you enjoy the card idea...finally.
