masculine guitar birthday card

This is a card that was made for a someone that likes to play games like
Guitar hero. I thought this stamp and card idea was great for the person it was made for. It's hard to see the detail of this card, but it is shiny and sparkles some. The lighting wasn't very good the night that I took the picture. Sorry I don't have a better picture. The guitarist is actually cut out and popped up with dimensionals. I used the edges of the dimensionals to pop up the smaller areas. I hate to waste stuff, so I use even the smallest of scraps when I can.
It is stamped twice. That way I didn't have to cut out the cords and small details, just the main character. It also gave it more of a 3d type of effect which was cool. The star is also popped up as well as the saying. I used the seam binding ribbon and the Word Window and Modern label punches. The background is just the brayer bounced around with various colors.
It's somewhat a basic card, but it fit the need and they enjoyed the card.
The inside has stars popped up on it too as well as another saying. Sorry I forgot to photograph the inside. I hope it gives you an idea for a masculine card next time you need one. Hope you have a great day today.

lovely as a tree birthday

I needed a masculine birthday card, so I picked out one of my all time favorite sets and that is Lovely as a Tree. I masked an area and inked it in using Sahara Sand and then stamped the tree using Old Olive and Early Espresso markers. I stamped 3 times without inking to give the variation in the colors. I also did another new one on the outside of the card to make the one in front stand out. I used the new 1/8" Espresso ribbon. I love the new skinny ribbon. Very versatile. I used the saying from Teeny Tiny Wishes and the Word Window and Modern Label punches. A fairly quick card to put together and such a neat effect I think. This style has been around for a while, but I hadn't used it in lately, so I wanted to revisit it again. I keep thinking this set will retire, but I do love it as it can be used for so many different types of cards. It can be used for Christmas (this tree makes a neat Christmas tree), a winter scene, masculine cards, various techniques, and of course all kinds of nature cards.

masculine thank you

Wow, I didn't realize it had been so long since I posted. Sorry about that . Things got somewhat crazy around here with end of school stuff, church stuff and just life in general. I've started leading a weekly bible study time again and that has taken more time then I have expected along with everything else.
I'll try and get some more pictures uploaded for you. I've also been doing some creating too, but haven't been able to upload yet. My chip to upload my pictures has mysteriously disappeared, so I've had to see about getting a new one. This one is different style though, so I'm sure it has a learning curve. :)

Besides making some various cards like this one. I've also put together another album idea, some club ideas and created a few scrap pages. So lots of stuff to show, once I get it off my camera. :)
This card of course uses the lovely as a tree set which didn't retire this time. I absolutely love this set. It has so many uses - masculine, nature, Christmas, different seasons, etc. It's just really versatile in my opinion. So anyways I needed a masculine thank you card and this is what I came up with. The tree is colored in with markers - Chocolate chip and always artichoke. I used those papers as well as white. I stamped the phrase using the Teeny Tiny Wishes set with the Word Window and Modern label punches. It also has chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon in the background which is retiring by the way. The background white is stamped with the Sanded set using some Soft Suede and Chocolate chip and inked around the edges with the same ones.

This card is a little different as I decided to decorate the inside too. Since I used a darker cardstock base I added some white paper. I thought it looked too plain so I added another tree and the Thank you saying from the Thank you kindly stamp set.

Wonderful husband card

Here is one of the cards I played around with this weekend. This picture looks darker then in real life though. Sorry, it was dark outside when I took it. We've had a lot of overcast days lately when I've been home, so I just went ahead and took the picture.

I just wanted a quick and easy idea for a masculine card. I used my Wonderful favorites stamp set and my star punches to make this card. The wonderful is stamped in olive and husband is stamped in chocolate craft and heat embossed to raise it up. I added the chocolate grosgrain ribbon and popped some of the stars up and it made for a cool little card I think. Some days I like quick and easy for my schedule. Especially lately.
I think it's nice just to tell someone that you care from time to time or how much they mean to you. So I challenge you to share with someone you really care about how much they mean to you, whether it be by card, small gift, phone call or visit.

masculine cards

I'm not sure why, but this weekend I got on a kick of masculine cards using the Wanted set and a couple others. I thought this one was interesting because it looked a little like the old fashioned wanted type posters - well a little anyways. I took vanilla paper, tore the edges inked with Chocolate chip and Soft suede and rolled some pieces with my fingers. I have to tell you that I haven't used soft suede a lot, but when it comes to distressing things it's a color I'm really liking, especially on the vanilla. I also liked the wood grain stamp on the back of the base card too. It almost looks like it's on a tree. The word Wanted and the circles are from the Wanted stamp set. The words are from Wonderful favorites. I placed silver brads in the circles for dimension and I also stamped the words on separate pieces too to add some extra dimension, but they could have been directly on the paper for a clean and simple (CAS) card effect.
I also took a picture of the Wanted sign without the extras as I thought that would also make a cool journal spot on a scrapbook page. Either one would really, but this one was more open for journaling.

maculine bday

We celebrated my brother-in-laws birthday this last weekend and I needed a masculine birthday card. I struggle with masculine cards a lot. Girly cards, kid cards, etc no problem but I have to work a lot harder to come up with masculine cards. After much debating I finally decided on this card, which I really ended up liking. One of the things he likes to do is play golf, so I made this card for him. Inside I also added a piece of white and stamped golf balls all over it in going gray (stamped off first to make them lighter). I then used Happy Birthday from Well Scripted in the mini in brocade.

For the outside I used the following supplies:
stamps: all in the family, family accessories too, On your Birthday.
inks: brocade blue (& marker), basic black, going gray(& marker), close to cocoa marker (hair), blush blossom.
paper: whisper white, brocade blue basic black
accessories: blender pen.
I also drew little lines on the club to look like ridges - sort of like real clubs have.
It ended up being a fun card even though I didn't really bling it up a lot. Tricky for me to not do as it's instinct for me to add such things. I think it's the girl in me. :)
He seemed to enjoy it and that is all that really mattered really. So I hope you enjoy my birthday card and it inspires you to make some masculine cards too. Have a great day today.

sense of time

This is a card I made using the Sense of Time stamp set in the mini. I liked both the sayings on this set. I also didn't have any sets like this and thought it would be fun for both scrapbooking and card making. I tried to give this one an aged look. What do you think?
The circle in the middle is punched out and raised up as well as the saying at the top. It was different and I really like it.

loads of love sponging

Here was one of the ideas I had for girl scouts but changed my mind. It had a lot of detail which would have taken 13 girls way to long to do. It was sort of a fun card though. I like to color still and the kid comes out in me. :) This one I used several techniques. I sponged the sky and road. I masked off the truck to stamp the trees. I watercolored the truck and trees with watercolor crayons and I stamped off to get the trees different colors. It's hard to see but there are even gray little balls of smoke coming out the back of the truck. The words are punched out and raised up with dimensionals too.
I'm worried this little set will retire. It's been around for a long time now, but it's really fun for various types of cards. Plus I tend to like sets that can be colored in. So here is another card idea (or it would be fun in a scrapbook too). I didn't copy this one, but I'm sure there are others out there that look similar to this one, especially as long as this set has been out. So I hope you like it. Maybe you can get some time to color too. It really is fun. :)
